Darren John Wilkinson (The Sheddy Man) is certified
contributor for Gardening Homesteading USA Canada. He
has been showcasing his numerous gardening, landscaping,
and smallholding projects on his YouTube channel (I'm In
The Shed). From Cramlington in the United Kingdom, his
garden landscaped, with several outdoor structures, is
constantly evolving. No-dig gardening is his method! His
videos are presented from his shed located on his small
plot, hence his nickname "The Sheddy Man".
In this video, The Sheddy Man sown lettuce seeds in
autumn, an idea for a crop to prolong the season. Sowing lettuce that works every time as we head into
autumn winter. We are looking for crops that can extend
the season and lettuce has always been a good one. It’s
probably one of the easiest plants to grow unless you
get mixed up with compost. Happy sowing, happy growing!

Sowing lettuce that works every time into the
winter season
Sowing lettuce that works every
time.. as we head into autumn winter.. we are looking
for crops that can prolong the season and lettuce has
always been a good one .. and with it being still warm
these should germinate no problem..
Remember use
non rich compost unlike me who got mixed up with the
compost I was using and couldn’t understand why mine
were not germinated.. untill I relized my mistake after
having great success.. lol.. hopefully taking you into
winter and the pawn cocktail starter on Xmas day lol...
Sowing lettuce that works every time - Tips
Warm enough?
I used this method time and time again.. along the way
I’ve made mistakes mixing the rich soil up with my so
called non rich and not knowing why my lettuce seeds
wouldn’t germinate..
But then clicking on why
lol…
These new sowings will take me into the
winter season as still warm enough to germinate and grow
before temperatures cool towards autumn…
I’d say
it’s probably one of the easiest plants to grow unless
you get mixed up with compost you’ve used like me lol
..pawn cocktail anyone...
HAPPY SOWING HAPPY GROWING!

The Sheddy Man (Darren John Wilkinson)
explains how to collect chicken manure
in his chicken coop. The best way to
give yo your plants that extra bit more.
Increase your overall compost yield each
year with hen coop poop. Recycling and
reusing this black gold to avoid buying
compost from one year to the next.
The Sheddy Man explains how to add
eggshells to compost. He shows to us
what he does with them to his compost to
degrade over a few years and aerate it.
No drying out in ovens, just let them
dry out naturally and hand crush, slowly
but surely.
